B’ class school trip in London, within the framework of the interdisciplinary project entitled “Victorian England: social hierarchy, everyday life, hygiene and health”, and participation in educational workshop in the National Archives of the United Kingdom

From Wednesday 13 March 2024 until Sunday 17 March 2024, a group of 67 students and 5 teachers of Evangeliki Model High School of Smyrna visited London, the capital of the United Kingdom.

The educational visit was of historic and cultural content and focused on Victorian England. More precisely, it was realized within the framework of the interdisciplinary project entitled “Victorian England: social hierarchy, everyday life, hygiene and health”, which takes place in all B’ class groups during the second semester of the school year 2023-2024.

First of all, the participants were invited and visited the National Archives of the United Kingdom, where they took part in a workshop of study of authentic 19th century documents on the topic of “Whitechapel in the 19th century”. There they had the chance to get to know how the National Archives of the U.K. work, to be trained by their Education Department and become familiar with ways in which the British researchers study History through authentic sources. Then, the educational visit was complemented by visits in monuments of historical and cultural interest in the British capital.
