Job Shadowing in Segovia (Spain), in the framework of Erasmus+

From January 27 to 31, 2025, the English teacher of our school, Mrs. Eirini Arnaouti, the Chemistry teacher Mrs. Chrysi Angelidou and the Physics teacher, Mrs. Margarita Toulatou, who participate in the implementation of this school year’s Erasmus+ KA121 project, had the opportunity to do a job shadowing activity at IES Andres Laguna, in Segovia, Spain. The teachers were informed about the education system of the region, how the Spanish school works and attended classes in various secondary education classes of both humanities and science studies as well as in extra-curricular activities. In addition, they discussed with their Spanish colleagues and participated in a teachers’ meeting, where their peers organized and coordinated the Environment Day in their school. Finally, they carried out visits of cultural interest in sights and museums in Segovia, Salamanca and Madrid.

Like their colleagues previously participating in a job shadowing activity, they gained valuable international experiences that contributed to the strengthening of personal skills, knowledge of other cultures and international networking. They had the opportunity to improve their competence in English and Spanish, boost their social and professional skills, see how a different European education system works in practice and gain valuable information, in order to disseminate all that in the Greek school reality.

Through the exchange of experiences and joint work with other European professionals, the teachers of both countries understood the value of mutual respect and solidarity between the people of Europe. The benefits they gained contribute not only to their personal development but also to the overall strengthening of cooperation, intercultural understanding and social cohesion in Europe.

Launching of an Erasmus+KA120 project in our school

During the current school year 2024-2025, the implementation of the Erasmus+ European Project ΚΑ120 begins in our school, since our school applied for and received the Accreditation by the national agency of the program the previous school year.

The project, lasting three years (2024-2027), aims to improve three objectives:

  1. Development of innovative teaching practices: Improving creativity in the educational process
  2. Enhancing democratic consciousness: Awareness of the value of democracy and participation in democratic processes

According to the plan, this year teachers from our school will attend training courses in foreign institutions and/or will do job shadowing in schools of other European countries. Then, they will train the rest of the school teachers and participate in actions to disseminate the results, while at the same time they will create teaching scenarios and educational material for implementation in the classroom.

The project is co-funded by the European Union.
