“An intelligent, touching approach of Sophocles’ tragedy that reaches its peak thanks to the exceptional acting of the young protagonist.”

“A drama full of essence and challenge!”

These are some of the statements with which the film critics praised the much awarded French Canadian film “Antigone” of Sophie Deraspe.

In collaboration with the cinematic organization “Youth Plan”, our school had the chance to watch the aforementioned film in Sporting Digital Cinema of Nea Smyrni.

The film treats issues like family relationships, solidarity, loss, power of art, bravery, imagination, friendship, myth, responsibility. In the film, the director, through the personal course of an adolescent female student, presents a modern dramatic story, which is parallel in development to the famous tragedy of Sophocles.

After the end of the film screening, the person in charge of “Youth Plan”, Mr. Georgios Spyrou, discussed with our students about the deeper messages of the film.
