Our School got the 9th place in the final stage of EUSO competition

On Saturday 27/1/2018, the final stage of the Panhellenic EUSO (European Union Science Olympiad) competition took place.

This year, like the previous ones, two final competitions took place. The 40 winners of the local competitions of Southern Greece met at the National Centre of Natural Sciences in Aghioi Anargyroi, while the 26 winners of Northern Greece met at the National Centre of Natural Sciences in Thessaloniki.

Our school participated in the final competition of Southern Greece after getting the 1st place in the local competition of the National Centre of Natural Sciences in Nea Smyrni.

In total, this year 311 schools with 335 teams and 1032 students participated.

The competition was challenging. Our school team gathered 219/300 credits and took the 9th place in the final competition of Southern Greece, while the 1st team gathered just 9 credits more (228/300).

The following day, all the teams that participated in the final competition in Aghioi Anargyroi gathered in Eugenides Foundation, which hosted the closing and award ceremony of the competition. Our school team consisted of Chistos-Aggelos Konidas, Chysoula Panigyraki and Persefoni Polaki, while Petros Panigyrakis participated as a substitute member.

The school Headmaster and the Teachers congratulate the students and the teachers Aggelidou Chrysi (Chemistry teacher), Diakonou Maria (Physics teacher), Theodoridis Gerasimos (Biology teacher) and Makedonas Christodoulos (Chemistry teacher), who trained the students!

Gold medal: Congratulations to our student

The Headmaster and the teachers of our school congratulate our student of B? Distinction of our school in the local EUSO competition

On Saturday 9/12/2017, the local preliminary stage of EUSO competition (European Olympiad of Natural Sciences) was held in the National Centre of Natural Sciences in Alimos, Athens, Greece.

The EUSO competition is unique given that it combines the following characteristics:

  • It is laboratorial. Students are examined in the conduct of experimental processes and the analysis of their experimental data for the deduction of conclusions.
  • It is inter-scientific. It is a three-hour competition during which students are examined in physics, chemistry and biology.
  • It is collaborative. In contrast to other competitions, every school participates with a 3-member team.

Students need to collaborate in order to reach their goal. 7 schools participated in the local competition of Nea Smyrni municipality and our school won the first place.

Our school team consisted of the students Christos Konidas, Chrysoula Panigyraki, Persefoni Polaki and Petros Panigyrakis (a substitute member). These students belonged to and were selected from a larger group of students who got prepared for the competition.

Our school students did their practice under the guidance of our school teachers Dr. Maria Diakonou (Physics), Mr. Gerasimos Theodoridis (Biology), Dr. Chrysa Aggelidou and Dr. Christodoulos Makedonas (Chemistry).

We wish good luck to our school students and the best possible representation of Evangeliki Model High School of Smyrna in the Panhellenic competition!
