On Wednesday 29/03/2023 a 5-member group of C Class (Karali Kalliope, Mavrikos Ioannis, Prousalidis Michail, Tzanetos Ioannis and Faloutsou Stellina) had the chance to discover the world of quarks and leptons, by working with real data from the CERN experiments.
The Masterclass was held in the National Technological University of Athens with participating students from all over Greece. It lasted from 09:00 until 18:00. In the end, the students had an online discussion about the results of their measurements with research centres from abroad.
During the morning lectures, researchers (Nikolaos Trakas, Georgios Tsipolitis and Ioannis Ntalianis) analysed the basic research fields and methods that have to do with the elementary particles and the forces between them. After lunchbreak, a research project was realized in the Inter-departmental PCLab, located in the Building of the Central PC.
Our school students were accompanied by the school Physics teachers Diakonou Maria and Toulatou Margarita.
