Warm congratulations to our School EOES (European Olympiad of Experimental Science) team, which achieved the 2nd place overall in the final round of the national competition, held on January 24–25, and, together with the Lyceum of the American Farm School, will represent our country at the European Olympiad!

Our team consisted of the following second-grade (B’) Lyceum students: Konstantinos Evangelidis, Marianna Krani-Bakopoulou, Melina Poulou, and Eleni Papazoglou (substitute member).

The EOES competition is organized by PANEKFE and is distinctive because it is laboratory-based, interdisciplinary (Biology, Physics, and Chemistry), and team-oriented. Unlike other written competitions, each school participates with a three-member student team. In order to achieve their goal, students must collaborate effectively.

In the final phase, 40 school teams from across the country participated, having qualified through their respective local competitions. In addition to placing 2nd overall, our team ranked 1st in Chemistry and shared 1st place in Biology with the Lyceum of the American Farm School.

The preparation of our students was undertaken by our School teachers: Katerina-Zoe Ntakou-Zamplara (Biology), Georgios Katsinis and Margarita Toulatou (Physics), Chrysi Angelidou and Christodoulos Makedonas (Chemistry). Members of last year’s EOES team, Konstantinos Giannoulas and Katerina Liagka, also contributed to the team’s preparation by sharing their experience.

We wish both Greek teams to bring two gold medals back to our country!

Our team received the award for first place in the Southern Greece final from the First Vice President of the Union of Greek Physicists, Mr. Dimitrios Niarchos.
