From June 16 to 19, students from schools across Attica had the opportunity to take part in a unique educational experience hosted at Athens College. The Physics Workshop, titled “Uncovering the Nature of Light”, was organized by Princeton University and led by Dr. Katerina Visnjic. It was conducted entirely in English and held in the state-of-the-art laboratories of the Benaki Science Center.
The workshop was designed for 11th-grade students in Science Track as well as IB Diploma Program students, and offered a hands-on, inquiry-based learning environment. Participants were actively involved in experimental and research activities, developing hypotheses, constructing models, and drawing scientific conclusions through direct observation and analysis.
Our school was proudly represented by Konstantinos Boulamatsis and Angeliki Tzanetou, who expressed their excitement and enthusiasm for the experience. According to the students, the workshop’s interactive and immersive approach helped deepen their understanding of physics in a meaningful and inspiring way.
Dr. Katerina Visnjic’s aim is to teach young minds how to use data and observation to draw their own conclusions and generate new knowledge—a goal clearly reflected in the structure and spirit of the program.
