With great enthusiasm, the German language teachers of Evangeliki Model High School of Smyrna, Ms. Xanthi Tsapara and Ms. Katerina Gritzalioti, implemented a co-teaching session on Tuesday, March 11th, from 13:30 to 14:10. The lesson, entitled “Alles was zählt” (“Everything that counts”), was held with the German classes of the second grade as part of the teachers’ effort to enrich the students’ learning experience.
During the lesson, students worked on a German song about life values, with the central message: “What matters cannot be measured.” Through brainstorming, listening comprehension exercises, lyrics analysis, and creative group activities, they explored both the target language and the deeper concepts it expresses, actively participating and cultivating their creative thinking.
The co-teaching approach allowed the teachers to combine their ideas, methods, and teaching strategies, creating a dynamic learning environment. At the same time, it inspired and motivated students to develop a love for the language and culture they are studying. The students participated actively, collaborated, and exchanged views, enhancing not only their language skills but also their emotional intelligence. This collaboration proved to be a valuable experience, highlighting the importance of teamwork and creative thinking in the educational process.
The co-teaching session concluded with the completion of peer observation questionnaires by English and French teachers of the school, as well as English and French teachers from the Model Gymnasium of Evangeliki School of Smyrna, who attended the session.
