On Wednesday 26 February 2025, as part of the Erasmus+ KA121 project implemented by our school, Dr. Sotirios Kollias, Religious Education teacher at Evangeliki Model High School of Smyrna, conducted a model teaching in the Religious Education subject for fellow teachers and students of the NKUA Theology School, who at the end completed observation forms.
The teaching scenario implemented was entitled “Human Freedom”, with the expected learning outcome being for students to recognize the significance of ontological freedom in Christian anthropology.
The lesson followed a four-phase teaching approach consisting of the following activities:
- Brainstorming, where students expressed their personal views on the concept of “freedom”,
- Artful Thinking, during which students observed paintings and photographs and shared their interpretations,
- Text Analysis through Collaborative Learning, where students studied texts and answered related questions, and
- Application, where students individually articulated their personal understanding of the concept of “freedom”.
The scenario followed a structure and techniques observed during job shadowing in Sabadell, Spain.
