Student’s distinction in Panhellenic History Competition

The A’ Class student Angeliki Charalampopoulou was awarded a prize among the 5 best students in the 1st Panhellenic History Competition organized by Moraitis School entitled, ‘European and World History of the 20th century’ (https://istoria4teens.com).
The competition was held on Saturday 13 April 2019 in the Foundation of the Hellenic World and the award ceremony took place on Friday 7 June 2019 in Moraitis School.

The A’ Class students Charalampos Vergadis and Dimitrios Tsomokos also participated in the same competition showing enthusiasm and consistency.

Distinction of a students’ digital creation

In the award ceremony held on Wednesday 29 May 2019 in the Press Room of the Ministry of Digital Policy, Telecommunications & Information was awarded a distinction to the participation of our school in the Panhellenic Competition of Audiovisual and Digital Creation “Your history is your town’s history” for students of the Secondary Education of the Greek schools in Greece and abroad.

The digital short historical documentary entitled “From Smyrna to Nea Smyrni: Important buildings in their intellectual, religious and cultural tradition” was created by the B2 class of Evangeliki Model High School of Smyrna, under the supervision of the English teacher Mrs. Eirini Arnaouti and the History teacher Mr. Georgios Thodis.

Scientific Publication of students in Open School Journal for Open Science

Congratulations to the students Zorzos Achilleas, Alexiadis Antonis, Zacharopoulos Stavros and Daferera Maria, Theodoratou Evangelia and Abasharoun Mariam for their publications in the European scholarly journal Open School Journal for Open Science.

In the framework of the Open School for Open Societies (https://www.openschools.eu/), the articles of the students of the B1 class are the results of their work from their active participation in the implementation of the project entitled “Sustainable development guide for the protection of the environment” during the school year 2018-19 under the supervision of their teacher Ms. Argyri Panagiota, who also took over their guidance and support in writing.

This magazine is an initiative of the National Documentation Center and Ellinogermaniki Agogi, within the framework of the major European project Openaire Advance, which proposes open access to scientific data and publications. It accepts original articles from pupils aged 10-18 from across Europe, which are evaluated by scientific researchers and educators. The articles cover all aspects of Science, Engineering and Technology and publication is free of charge.

Students take an active role in studying the issues and problems of the modern world and, through the principles of responsible research and innovation, offer solutions. In particular, given the serious impact of air pollution on our society, statistical analysis of the data provides evidence of the causes of the increasing rate of air pollution, in the light of a historical analysis through events. Understanding the reasons for increasing the proportion of air pollutants, there is a greater chance for environmental policy-makers to tackle the problem. In addition, the ecological footprint is a way of measuring the impact of human activities on Earth. With a statistical processing of international data to capture the effects of the ecological footprint, they focus on our country to shape prospects that will boost the life cycle of our planet.

Students awarded in the Statistics Competition 2019

The Greek Statistics Authority awarded a prize to the best teams that participated in the Statistics Competition 2019. The team of Evangeliki Model High School of Smyrna, consisting of D. Emmanouil, I. Mentis and E. Panagiotakis, thanks to doing professional work, took the 3rd place and won the bronze medal on a Panhellenic level in the High School category.

Distinction of a student movie in a competition

The digital short historical documentary, created by the B2 class of Evangeliki Model High School of Smyrna, under the guidance of their teachers Dr. Eirini Arnaouti, English teacher, and Mr. Georgios Thodis, Greek Language and Literature teacher, was distinguished in the Panhellenic Student Competition of Digital Creation “Your history is your town’s history”.

The documentary deals with the history of three important buildings in the history of Nea Smyrni, Evangeliki School, St. Foteini Cathedral and the Cultural Centre of Nea Smyrni, and it is entitled “From Smyrna to Nea Smyrni: Important buildings in their intellectual, religious and cultural tradition”. The award ceremony will be held on the 29th May 2019 in the Press Room of the Ministry of Digital Policy, Telecommunications and Information at 11:00.

Award ceremony of the student teams distinguished in the 2nd Panhellenic Statistics Competition

Evangeliki Model High School of Smyrna took the 3rd place in the 2nd Panhellenic Statistics Competition organized by the Greek Statistics Authority. The participating students were Dimitrios Emmanouil, Ioannis Mentis and Evangelos Panagiotakis under the supervision of our school mathematician Mr. Sotirios Chasapis. 356 teams from 98 schools from all over the country participated. The awards are won by the 5 first teams of Secondary School students and the 5 first teams of Comprehensive and Vocational High School students. The award ceremony will be held on Friday 24 May 2019 at 12:30 in the Greek Statistics Authority headquarters in Piraeus.
