Our school in Athens Science Festival 2018

Some days ago Athens Science Festival 2018 finished. It took place between 24 and 29 April in Technopolis, City of Athens.

Some of our students participated in this feast of science. They represented, apart from our school, the Regional Department of Attica and Cyclades of the Greek Chemists? Association.

More precisely, on Thursday 26/4 our students Isavella Papadopoulou, Myrto Papadopoulou, Evangelia Theodoratou, Christos Karaoglanis, Konstantina Mavroukaki-Karagkouni, Georgia Xagorari, Aikaterina Papatheodorou, Athanasia Sousani, Varvara Karyoti, Andriana Katsabani and Olga Kladi-Morfi, accompanied by the school Chemistry teacher Mr. Christodoulos Makedonas as well as the school Vice-Principal Mr. Sotirios Chasapis, conducted experiments entitled ?Exploiting solar energy with the help of fruits and vegetables of the Greek land?.

For this event, our students constructed DSSC (Dye Sensitized Solar Cells) and studied various natural dyes as sensitizing agents.  Furthermore, they also conducted one more experiment, with which they revealed the role of the intermolecular powers while mixing solutions of different solvents.

Among the visitors was the previous and currently retired Biology teacher of our school, Mrs. Nikoletta Moschopoulou.

Congratulations to our students and their teacher, Dr. Christodoulos Makedonas.
